Abstract

A method of making plates of plastic material, for perforated columns used for contacting non-miscible phases of different densities, consists of assembling elements, each constituting a part of a plate, and on a shape so that they can be joined without leaving spaces. Each element incorporates small vertical columns which fit into holes in the next element and act as distance pieces. Problems associated with making the complete plates by moulding or by machining from a sheet, and the accompanying high cost of equipment for a limited number of plates, are avoided.
