Abstract

The domestic bath has a continuous peripheral overflow weir (6) at a fixed height below the top rim (20). The weir ensures that surface scum overflows and does not stain the sides of the bath. The bath also has a drainage outlet (3) with plug at its lowest level and has low level water supply inlets (16, 18) issuing at a specified level above the outlet (3). The bath may be of double-walled construction with the weir (6) on the inner wall. Overflowing water falls over the weir into a peripheral concealed channel (5) which falls to a further drain outlet (9). Two water supply inlets may be incorporated, one (16) being utilised to fill the bath, and the second (18) with reduced flow characteristics runs continuously to maintain a flow of water over the weir (6). The water supply pipes may include flow controls (14) and a mixer (13) which are non-accessible to the bather.
