Abstract

Electrode for an effluent treatment plant of the type which removes colloids and suspended particles by electrically induced coagulation is claimed. Electrode comprises a mass of electrically conductive fragments, e.g. metal scrap, into which is embedded an electrical conductor rod. The fragments are pref. contained in a basket of insulating material, e.g. glass fibre or plastic. The basket perforations are small enough to hold in the fragments. Used for coagulating impurities for removal from industrial effluents. The low cost electrode is easily mfd. by packaging the fragments tightly into a plastic basket into which a conductor rod has previously been entered.
