Abstract

The racquet is used for playing tennis and similar sports and has a light alloy extruded metal frame (1). This is of symmetrical section, having upper and lower flanges (6) connected by three webs spaced between. The innermost web (7) is inflexible and the outermost (9) is insert from the flanges and flexes easily; the central rib (8) is semi-flexible. A filling (10) of elastomeric self-curing polymer is injected between the central and outer ribs. The cording (11, 12) passes through holes provided in ribs and filling, being protected on the outside by the projecting flanges (13). The arrangement provides an increased degree of elasticity in play.
