Abstract

The machine for breaking up frozen ski pistes ready for use, has a frame supported behind a suitable vehicle supporting a line of vertically reciprocated breakers (2). Each breaker has a vertical column (10) attached to an upper arm (28) and a lower arm mounted on a vertical support (5) and forming a parallelogram linkage. The outer anchorage (34) of each upper arm is connected to the inner anchorage (29) of each lower arm by a spring. The lower arm is lifted and lowered by a swinging arm (59) underneath, operated by a vertical actuator cylinder (62). At the bottom of the column is a convex disc (22) around which are rotated three spikes (25), driven by a hydraulic motor (10) above.
