Abstract
Phenylformamidines of formula (I) and their salts with (in)organic acids are new. In (I) R1 is H or CH3. R2 is 1-5C alkyl). Some pref. cpds. have R1 is H or CH3 and R2 is CH3. They are prepd. e.g. by reacting 2-methyl-4-CF3-aniline (II) with R1R2NCHO in the presence of e.g. SOCl2, POCl3, etc. (I) are useful for control of animal or plant parasites. They are useful as nematocides, herbicides, plant-growth regulators, and for control of phytopathogenic viruses, bacteria and fungi. Esp. they have acaricidal and insecticidal (systemic or contact) activity and are more active than the cpds. of DT1542715. They are particularly valuable for control of Spodoptera littoralis and Heliothis virescens on cotton, and Leptinotarsa decemlineata and Myzus persicae on vegetables. They may be formulated with standard Pyrethrin synergists.
