Abstract
A cooling system for a nuclear reactor, using liq. sodium as a coolant and in which an inner vessel contg. the core is suspended from the concrete cover slab of the reactor, incorporates two baffles, both having free upper edges. The first baffle is joined to the inner vessel at the baffle's lower edge, and there are holes in the inner vessel above the level of the join. The annular space between the inner vessel and the baffle constitutes an outlet space for "cold" sodium. The annular space between the second baffle and the inner vessel, and then between the two baffles, constitutes a feed space for "cold" sodium. The invention adapts the system of cooling, described in the parent patent to the partic. case of cooling the inner vessel, when the latter is suspended from the concrete cover slab of the reactor.
