Abstract

The train speed control system modifies the speed of the train by selecting the value of the nominal speed or the value of the nominal acceleration. The system has limiting device and a logic circuit which connect the speed and acceleration values transmitted to the trains control unit. The limiting logic system ensure that modification to acceleration does not exceed a determined value. The nominal speed value used to modify the trains speed satisfies the equation Vs = square root 2.a.s. where 'a' is the acceleration or the braking deceleration; 's' the distance of braking or acceleration; 'Vs' the value of nominal speed. The logic circuit determines a value of corrected nominal speed. This connected speed in association with the limiting means gives to the train, during acceleration or constant deceleration, a speed which satisfies approximately the equation V = square root 2.a.s.
