Abstract

A plug for fixing objects to walls, masonry, concrete surfaces etc. is made from a strip (4) of flexible plastics material and it is rolled to form a small rod (3). The length of the strip (4) is so chosen that the diameter of the rod (3) matches the hole drilled in the masonry. A wood-screw is then passed through a hole in the object and screwed into the centre of the rod (3). The surface of the plastics strip may be provided with ridges either parallel or inclined to the axis of the plug (3). These ridges increase the grip of the plug in the hole. Making a plug from plastics strip avoids the need for drilling holes of a precise diameter to match the fixing screws.
