Abstract

The large dia. bale press has an auxiliary roller (15) which engages the endless bale-forming apron (12). This closes the exit from the bale-forming space (14) as the rear frame (21) is pivoted upwards about its pivot (23) on the front frame (1) to discharge the formed bale. The auxiliary roller is linked to the rear chassis (21) to move to its closing position when the chassis pivots upwards. A locking device (40) holds the roller in its closing position while the rear chassis is pivoted upwards. Downwards pivoting of the rear chassis releases the locking device. The roller can then be displaced progressively upwards as the bale is formed.
