Abstract
The ribbing system is used for neutralisation of vibration effects especially in columns immersed into flowing liquids. The building component surface has ribs or profiles for vibration elimination. The ribbing system suppresses forces generated by vortices, especially when alternating vortices are generated. The ribs or profiles are distributed irregularly on the circumference of the building component. These ribs or profiles can form successive ring arrangements in which the ribs or profiles of one ring arrangement are staggered relative to another one. Ribs can be arranged in helical pattern while maintaining staggered arrangements.
