Abstract
L'invention décrit du carbone anisotrope réticulé poreux et l'obtention de telles structures de carbone vitreux. Ce carbone est composé de filaments continus interconnectés, repliés ou frisés, dont la structure est isomorphe des brins, repliés sous compression, du polyuréthanne réticulé souple dont le carbone provient. On a comprimé le polyuréthanne anisotrope réticulé, puis l'on y a fait pénétrer par infusion une résine thermodurcissable liquide, une solution de cette résine ou un précurseur de la résine, puis l'on a enlevé l'excès de résine liquide, de précurseur ou de solution de la résine et l'on a carbonisé à une température élevée. Le carbone obtenu est relativement peu réactif en milieu réducteur ou neutre, même à des températures élevées. Il peut servir de matériau pour des filtres devant résister à la corrosion et aux températures élevées et il peut servir de catalyseur ou de support de catalyseur poreux.
