Abstract

An equipment rack may be used for a wide variety of electronic apparatus. In particular it forms a chassis for use with communications electronics that may require to be moved periodically for servicing. The open sided rack has four identical vertical members each having a flat U-shaped cross-section. These are held in place by welded or bolted cross-pieces which are again U-shaped. One side of each of the inward facing vertical members has a series of tapped holes along its length. Rectangular plates having matching holes can be bolted to the vertical members at any point. the plates have a rectangular cut-out one one edge facing into the rack interior which provides the load bearing points for equipment trays etc.
