Abstract

A three-row sugar beet harvester includes toothed discs (4) for stripping vegetation and topping blades (2). Rotating vanes (42) clear residual vegetation from the ridges, lifting shares (36) and clearing rotors (34) causing the crop to be discharged in a single row at one side of the harvester. The shaft (9a) is driven from the tractor power takeoff and through a transmission rotates a (20) engaged by an eccentric (18) so that the lifting shares (36) are reciprocated up-and-down. A stop (32) ensures that the beets are pushed sideways by the rotors to a deflector plate which forms them into the row. The discs (4) and the blades (2) are carried on shafts mounted for vertical movement by rods (6) and springs (7).
