Abstract
The torsion spring e.g.g for mounting trailer wheels has rubber rods (22, 24, 26, 28) in a state of transverse compression between a shaft (16) and an outer tube (18, 28). The tube is of non-circular section and is made in axially split halves (18, 20) so that the rods can be placed into position in the tube before the halves are joined. The rods are placed lengthwise into corners of the e.g. square section tube. The shaft has lobes lying between the elements so that when the shaft is turned the elements provide torsional resistance. This avoids the need for axial insertion of the rods.
