Abstract

The container is reduced in diameter at the upper end(4) over a short distance. A further reduction in diameter (5) enables the flange (6) to be formed. The outside of the flange (6) is nearly in line with the outside diameter of the container (4). The lid (2) has a flat central portion and has a loop (7) which fits over that flange on the tin and extends downwards so that it lines up exactly with the tin diameter (4). The sealing band (3) is wrapped around over the joint(6) and (4) and is soldered on the inside of the sealing band.
