Abstract

The tool for retapping spark-plug bores having conical seats consists of a shaft (5) provided at one end with a hole (6) through which a tommy bar can be located. At the other end is a tap (7) of the same dia. as the original thread which allows centring and advance of the tool, followed by a second section (8) which widens the bore, followed by another tap (9) which produces a thread of the same pitch but greater dia. than the original. The bore is retapped to a certain depth, the new bore being displaced by half a pitch w.r.t. the old bore. A helicoidal wire with a rhomboidal section is then inserted to replace the thread of the old bore.
