Abstract

A container for transporting liquefied gases such as methane over great distances is made of a special steel and is covered by an insulation and an outside protective lining. Its fittings include a safety valve, a filler valve and a heated outlet valve. The insulation consists of a foam material, and a cushion, made of hard rubber, at the bottom absorbs the container weight. Containers of this design can be mfd. at a fraction of the cost and time of specialised tankers.
