Abstract

New medicaments for treating nodular inflammation of the teats of ruminants (nodular thelitis) consist of (a) a combination of active substances exerting a specific action against Mycobacterium aquae and (b) a carrier material contg. dimethyl sulphoxide (I), which favours penetration fo the antibacterial substances into the wall of the teat. Used for treatment of nodular thelitis, a chronic condition of milk cows due to Mycobacterium aquae which manifests itself as one or more nodules in the subcutaneous connective tissue of the teats. The active substances used in combination in the new medicaments are pref. kanamycin (pref. as thesulphate), hexamidine isethionate, ionizid and diaminodiphenyl sulphone. Pref. carried materials contain 10 pts. (I) and 80 pts. of a mixt. of lanolin, "Lanette N" (RTM) and propylene glycol.
