Abstract

The mobile seed drill is for sewing in uncultivated ground particularly pasture, having means for making a cut in the ground into which the seed is metered, and for pressing the cut shut again. The cut is made by a pair of circular coulters each rotating on a nearly horizontal axis (17, 18). The angle included between their axes is such that the coulters (14, 15) bear against each other at a point (16) below the surface of the ground, the seed-dispensing outlet (20) being situated vertically above this point. The lining joining the point of contact (16) of the coulters to their axes can be at approx. 20 deg. to the perpendicular line through the axes.
