Abstract

The support strut for a road transport trailer has a front support leg (8), pivoted at its upper end on a shaft (9) carried in a bearing (10) which is fixed to the chassis. At its lower end, this leg is hinged about an axis (44) to a fork (12) that has a shoe (13) which presses on the ground and a rear support leg (14). This second leg is part of a shock absorber with a tube (15) which can bend. This is normally held between a lower cap (16), which is hinged with the shoe, and an upper cap (17). A rod keeps the caps fixed, even when the tube bends to absorb energy.
