Abstract

A non-woven fabric weighing 4-440 gm/m2 is formed by superimposing two layers of synthetic organic fibres, pref. at an angle and pref. heating so that the join together at the cross-over points of the fibres which constitute 3-50% of the surface of the fabric. Pref. the fabric is then re-heated so that the fibres crimp between the cross-over points. Pref. the non-woven fabric has a modulus of elasticity 52.28 gm/cm/gm/m2 and a stretch factor of >=40. The non-woven fabric has the stretch characteristics of a knitted fabric.
