Abstract

The forklift truck has a vertical apron to which the fork prongs are detachably secured by columns integral with them and hooking into engagement with the apron. It also has a rigid component (11a) having two surfaces (12a) each bearing against an external surface (13a) of each prong-and-column assembly. This counteracts the tendency for the prongs to spread apart when handling a load such as a cable drum fitting between them. The component can be a vertical plate, bearing against the surfaces of the columns furthest from the apron, and fixed to the latter.
