Abstract

Self-lubricating flexible bearing comprises a thin fluorocarbon resin-base bush surrounding by an elastomeric sleeve with a channelled outer profile which is subjected to peripheral deformation. The bearing also comprises a stiffening insert, pref. a metal bush, which may be perforated which is inserted in the thickness of the sleeve. The insert protects the quality of the fluorocarbon resin base bush by saving it from deformation on assembly of the bearing which is limited in that part of the sleeve which surrounds the insert. This prevents deformation of the bearing from causing modification of the frictional force or torque considered with the shaft which passes through it.
