Abstract

A piled textile fabric (e.g. moquette) is formed from a corrugated fibre lap which is attached to a backing web. At the interface of the lap and the web the fibres are integrated (i.e. fused) with the web. Pref. the lap is fed onto a roller having radial bars so that the lap is corrugated and pref. the backing web is fed onto the lap as it passes around the roller. The piled surface of the fabric does not become contaminated with adhesive as in previous processes.
