Abstract

The magnetic tape cassette drive and braking system has a base plate P which supports two rotatable discs (1, 2). The discs (1, 2) are equally spaced on either side of a longitudinal axis. This axis passes through a stud (16) and the shaft which carries a drive roller (4). An intermediate roller (5) can be brought into contact with the drive roller (4) by means of a spring (10). The axis (6) of the intermediate roller (5) is mounted on a support (8) which is hinged and slides around an axis (9). The axis (9) is lightly braked in its rotation by a leaf spring (7). A brake support plate (12) which is normally pressing the brake pads (12a, 12b) against the discs (1, 2) is displaced in the opposite direction. This opposite displacement is achieved by an electro magnet (19) controlled lever (17) acting against a spring (15). The brake support plate (12) whilst being displaced towards the drive roller (4) disengages the brake pads (12a, 12b). The intermediate roller (5) is brought into contact with the drive roller (4).
