Abstract

A sensor device is used which comprises a light source and a photoelectric detector. One or more flexible, tubular pipes (1, 1a, 1b) are provided whose internal walls are coated with a reflecting layer (2) and whose two ends are connected to the light source (3) and the photoelectric receiver (4) respectively. The device may use two or more tubular sections (1a, 1b) with reflecting internal walls and which form an angle between themselves. In this case, adjacent sections are connected by an element which transmits the light. This element may be a section of optical fibre or a prism or other solid body. The flexible tube may be coated using a metallisation process. An important application of this sensor is in safety devides designed to interrupt the closure of a mobile panel or door, driven by an electric motor.
