Abstract

The domestic vegetable slicer has a recoil-sprung plunger action with the cutting blade (6) mounted on the plunger. The mounting (8) of the push-rod (5) on the casing (1) includes a commutator. the commutator effects an automatic incremental rotation of the blade as it descends. The push-rod has a hand-button (7) at the head and is mounted axially on a bell-shaped casing (1) with an open base. The bell houses the vegetable during cutting. The hand button is mounted on a tubular shaft (7a) with a socket locating the head of the push-rod. The tubular shaft slides into a guite tube (1a) projecting from the casing. The commutator is free to rotate on the push-rod, is linked to it by a torsion spring (12), and comprises three contiguous tubes (8, 8c, 8e) of different dia. One tube (8) fits on the push-rod, the second (8c) fits in push-rod shaft, the third (8e) has teeth engaging spiral grooves (9) in the guide tube.
