Abstract
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for preserving aquatic animals alive for an extended period of time. This process consists in placing the aquatic animals in a tank 1 containing environmental water, at a high density greater than 200 kg / m ** 3; to keep the temperature of the surrounding water as low as it allows aquatic animals to live; controlling the concentrations of ammonia compounds, organic compounds in the surrounding water so that their level does not exceed 20 ppm, 150 ppm and 1000 ppm, respectively; and adjusting the concentration of dissolved molecular oxygen in the surrounding water so that it is 3 ppm or more. The invention is applicable in the aquatic animal industry in order to keep them alive for an extended period of time.
