Abstract

The rotary shaft seal has an annular friction element fixed to a flexible membrane and acted on by a spring which contacts a counter ring. Coaxial and cylindrical elements define a space in which the above elements are housed. The membrane is fixed to one cylindrical element, the counter ring being fixed to the other. A ball bearing is pref. mounted between the cylindrical elements at their ends remote from the shaft closing the inner cylindrical element may be slidably mounted on the shaft, its outer end having a groove cooperating with a pin fixed to the shaft.
