Abstract

The separator consists of two rollers (1, 2) which can both only rotate in one direction and are covered with rubber or some similar material to ensure a good coefficient of friction w.r.t. the pile of sheets (4) placed on top of the rollers. A pushrod (3) is positioned over the pile of sheets and the separation is achieved by lowering the pushrod until the pile bends. This causes the top sheets to slip relative to the bottom sheets. When the pushrod is raised the sheets remain staggered w.r.t. each other and successive bending operations increases this stagger until the sheets are in effect separated.
