Abstract

Dietetic products contain powdered bran mixed with conventional ingredients (flour, fat, honey, etc.,) in the form of biscuits or the like. Each biscuit weighing 10-14 g contains at least 4-8g of bran together with 1-5g of tricalcium phosphate (I) per 100 g of bran. The prods. facilitate admin. of the necessary daily dose of bran (>=5g/day) for laxative purposes. Cpd. (I) combats the decalcifying effect of the phytic acid contained in the bran fibre. Pref. >=60% of the bran has particle size of 120-400 mu. The prods. can also contain (a) sorbitol and/or mannitol and (b) tamarind, manna, senna, cellulose, mucilage and/or agar-agar.
