Abstract
The heat and moisture exchanger contains in a box-like, elongated housing a number of hose-shaped partition elements (8). A vessel (15) which is arranged in the upper part of the housing contains a first bath with a 24% sodium chloride solution. The floor (16) of this vessel rests on a horizontal, upper partition (17) of the housing. In the region of each partition element (8), tube bushes (18) are installed through the partition (17) and the floor (16) of the vessel (15) in such a way as to produce a reliable seal between each bush and the floor (16). A tube (21) widened at its lower end surrounds the tube bush (18) and the folded over end part (20) of the partition element (8), with the result that the air to be let out can escape through the outlet opening without causing evaporation of the liquid in the vessel (18). A vessel (22) for accepting a lower salt bath in a similar way as does the upper vessel (15) is arranged in the lower region of the housing. During operation, the partition elements (8) are saturated along their entire length by sodium chloride solution, in order to prevent formation of ice and the precipitation of contaminants. At the same time, these partition elements (8) permit effective exchange of heat and moisture in the exchanger.
