Abstract

A panel which can be used for doors, partitions, ceilings, etc. consists of a rigid framework covered on its two principal faces with a thin sheet, the space between the sheets being filled. The facing sheets are made of pasteboard with motifs in relief on their surfaces, obtd. by stamping. The stamping is pref. done on heated pasteboard, which can previously have been covered with a plastic film. During manufacture of the pasteboard other materials such as synthetic fibres, waste plastic, antiflame additives, etc. can be added to the paper paste. The filling material is pref. a synthetic foam which is injected after formation of the ensemble and polymerised in situ. Such panels are economical, light, and easy to make, as well as being aesthetically satisfying and similar in appearance to conventional doors, etc.
