Abstract

A pump has its swashplate (6) mounted at the drive end of the housing, acting against a set of pistons (12) with a stepped blind hole (13, 20) down the middle of each, the front part (20) communicating through holes (21) at right angles with the pumping chamber, near the swashplate. The rear part houses a spring (14) acting against a spring loaded ball valve (15). This valve has side discharge holes (24). The front part (20) of each piston has a channel in the form of three lobes (30) and is shouldered (29) to form a seating for a ball (27). Down the middle of the pump, inside the circle of pistons, is a pressure limiting arrangement with a stepped spindle (35, 36, 37) with its head (36) resting against another ball (33). This is held against a seating (32) in the central block by a stack of springs (34) around the middle (35) of the spindle.
