Abstract
Partially automated prodn. of dragees with hard or soft saccharose starch syrup or chocolate comprises (a) treating the additive materials; (b) stabilising by solidification or by fat-insulating, the centre materials; (c) drying the stabilised additives; (d) coating and smoothing with powdered and/or liquid materials, opt. at high pressure; (e) drying or cooling the matte dragees; (f) rendering dragees shiny; (g) drying and (h) packing. The centre materials, dragees, treated additives, solns. and the shining agent are heated to 25-116 degrees C and transported, dried or cleaned with air at -10 degrees C to 20 degrees C 20% RH and a pressure of 0.1-100N/cm2. When using longer drying times, shorter dragee heating times (with air at 30-80 degrees C) are used by interval drying. The dragees are packed in air-permeable, post-dryable materials and the processing stages are effected continuously for a given batch. Finely-divided hygroscopic material (e.g. SiO2) may be included in the solns. Prods. are used in foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals.
