Abstract

Telephone signalling between exchanges requires a signal composed of two frequencies from six. A replay signal comprises a seventh frequency. These frequencies are generated using a programmed memory and addressing circuits. A signalling frequency generator comprises a time base circuit which generates time base signals at a particular frequency. These are applied to an address counter which provides addresses cyclically at the time base signal rate. A memory comprises elements containing binary of or 1 logic which are addressed by the counter. The relevant memory element contents are then applied to dividers at a rate determined by the period of time base frequency to produce output frequencies.
