Abstract

The application of tunnel lining rings to a mineshaft immediately behind a full diameter cutting head, includes the use of a carrier ring (25) to build up a channel ring made from five equally sized trough section channel segments (4, 5 etc.). Each segment is mounted in turn on the carrier by special clamps, secured at an angle in a tangential manner to the inside edge of the carrier, and the latter is rotated in alternate directions to force the ends of the segments against one another after their ends have been overlapped. The complete ring is then separated from the carrier and mounted around the gallery face, being held there in tension.
