Abstract
The tandem master brake cylinder has the two pistons (31.32) operated by the input shaft, from the brake pedal, and linked by a control spring The first pressure chamber (27) is linked to a servo operated hydraulic cylinder (13) which provided a weak hydraulic force when the pedal is pressed. This gives sufficient pressure to take up any brake travel. The servo is operated from the engine vacuum, with the flow control valve linked to the brake pedal. The driver has a constant brake pedal reaction over the life of the brake linings.
