Abstract

Insulating material is produced by introducing into a slurry of water and cement an aerated mixt. of water and a foaming agent, agitating the resultant mixt. and feeding it to the location subject to insulation. Pref. the density and cellular size of the material is controlled by selection of the foam producing appts. or regulating the amt. of the compressed air supplied to the foamed mixt. Slurry may be treated with reinforcing or setting materials such as glass fibres, textile fibres or sand. Setting materials may contain hydroxymethyl or carboxymethyl cellulose to render the resultant mixt. thixotropic.
