Abstract

A curved surface is X Y Z co-ordinates' machined in combination with two perpendicular rotation axes (0-0), (01-01). An end face cutter's output spindle is constant angled to its input spindle, for rigidity, machining accuracy, and high metal removal rate. Cutter tilt determines concave or convex surfacing. The tool head (11) swivels about an axis (01-01), parallel with the longitudinal axis (X). An angled rotary nose (14) houses the cutter's (2) output spindle (15). The input spindle (18) is concentric within a hollow separately driven (23), (22), (21) nose shaft (12) on another axis (0-0). The cutter, rotating on its output axis (02-02), sweeps conically at a constant angle (9) to its input axis (0-0).
