Abstract

The carnival mask consists of an upper part (1), a middle part (2) and a lower part (3). They are articulated with regard to each other by means of slits extending as far as the outer edge of the mask and by elastic bands held across these slits. The middle part is joined to the upper part by a joining band (4) which covers the nose between the eye openings (5, 6) and there slits (7, 8) extending from the eyes to the outer edge. The lower part is separated from the middle part by slits (9, 10) extending from the mouth opening (11) to the outer edge.
