Abstract

A sliding vane rotating pump for construction machines refuse vehicles, snow ploughs, etc, using a highly viscous hydraulic fluid is designed for efficient starting under very cold conditions. The pump has a fixed oval shaped outer body (16) with a set of ports (26) around it and a set of radial slots (12) for the vanes (14). It has circulating rings (34) around it end plates between the rotating hub and the sliding vanes (14) are V shaped springs (38). The length of these springs is sufficient cause a small reciprocation of the vanes over the regions of their shortest travel on starting up when resistance to slide of the pumps is high.
