Abstract

The hold-off brake is held in the open position by a brake line controlled blocking piston. This is protected by a brake line controlled blocking piston. This is protected by a control valve which is operated by the pressure difference across a controlled flow restriction in the brake line to the hold-off cylinder. The operation of the locking piston is thus controlled by the brake line without requiring any additional control lines. The system enables a compact layout to be used, with a simple manual control to release the brakes.
