Abstract

Tyre for motor vehicles and aircraft comprises a textile layer on the tread surface, allowing safe driving on smooth, wet and dry roads. The textile fibres on the tread surface and in the tyre profile provide resistance to slipping as on the paws of Polar bears. The fibres, consisting of nylon, "Perlon" (RTM), etc., absorb the water which penetrates the profile, and spin it off by centrifugal force so that the vehicle runs practically on a dry carriageway. If traffic regulations should no longer require profiles or cuts in the tread surfaces, the textile strip can also be applied to the whole tread surface without cuts.
