Abstract

The cigarette making plant includes a conveyor between a station (16) where filter tips are attached to double length cigarettes and a packaging station for the cigarettes (15) after being cut into two normal lengths. The double lengths (17) are first conveyed upwards between belt conveyors (18). They can then continue to a buffer reservoir (22A) or fall into a reservoir (24) below. A suction wheel (25) with grooves around it which can each hold two superimposed cigarettes, forms the bottom of the reservoir (24) and carries them past a cutting disc (26). The standard length cigarettes are then passed to a transfer drum (27), and deposited onto a horizontal conveyor (28) to fall down a shaft (30) with a guide which rotates the two streams into one stream facing the other way for delivery to the packaging station.
