Abstract

Measures to ensure landscaping, protection of the environment and protection against erosion must be taken at the same time as building a biological foundation for recultivation to improve the soil. This is followed by biological recultivation using a mixt. of 5-10% N-, 3-6% P2O5-, 3-6% K2O-material, 28-39% carrier-contg. NKP-fertiliser and 50-60% bioactive lignite of 0.5-4 mm granular size and contg. micro-elements, organic acids such as humic acid etc. and opt. bioactive lignite granulate. The methods ensure a fast programme of landscaping and recultivation of farmlands. Crops may be grown after only a few years and ugly 'moonscapes' are prevented from developing. The total costs are considerably lower than those incurred when trying to clear up after mining is finished.
