Abstract

Method of coating a pipeline embedded in the ground with a heat insulating and corrosion inhibiting coating consisting of a mixt. of thermoplastic binder with heat insulating materials, is claimed in which a bulk aggregate formed from a cold granulate in which heat insulating materials are incorporated, is poured into the trench into which the pipeline is to be embedded. Pure binder material in the molten state is then poured over the bulk aggregate so as to fill all the interstices. The granulate pref. has a density greater than that of the pure binder. By using granulate which is denser than the binder, the influx of binder does not carry up aggregate to the surface as in prior art.
