Abstract

The peephole has an optical system in a mounting that includes a flanged barrel which fits on the outside of the door; the barrel has an inner shoulder against which rests the innermost of the lenses forming the objective. The interior of the flanged barrel accepts an adjustable elements which forms part of an optical eyepiece; this element is fixed in position after adjustment. The element referred to is pref. a screw fixed by adhesive. The optical eyepiece it forms part of can take several forms. The diaphragm may be fitted between the components of the objective lens. The flanged barrel mentioned above is pref. moulded in a plastic, e.g. ABS with a metallic coating. The ring that holds the outermost lens in place is of metal of metal coated plastic. The peephole cover inside the door is also of plastic.
