Abstract

A cross-bar switch is used in telecommunication systems. It opens or closes circuits between fixed multiconductor cables and cable pairs. It has connecting pins and is mounted on a pivoted frame. The switch is made-up of a stack of decks, breast plates, and a stirrup. Each deck comprises a ribbed plastic board with slides and a printed circuit board. The side faces of the switch have connecting pins for cable pairs. The ends of cross-bars are on the back face and provide connection for cables. The front face has holes for inserting shunting or switching pins. Each cross-bar has a shape with facilitates the insertion of pins for shunting or switching.
